Between-beats or ghost-notes are made with very muted strokes. Beats, mainly on rythm instruments. (Drums, percussion) are played and make a rythm that lends more towards a groove than a beat. However, with inexperienced listeners it is often not consciously perceived, that they fulfill an important task. Ghost-notes, or dead-notes are specifically used by drummers and percussionists to give the rhythm more depth and richness.
Six artists from Scotty Enterprises display works in the exhibition that show how they associate to rhythm.

Opening Hours: Thu-Sun 2-6pm

Opening event: 03.11.2013 17:00

Seven Berlin artists have joined forces to make a series of exhibitions underground in Berlin. ‘Underground’ taken in the broadest sense to mean the parts of the city that are invisible to everyday life; spaces that are disused or have never before been publicly accessible, allowing us to glimpse under the surface and behind the scenes of everyday life. After "Cave Dwellers", which took place in the machine room of Stadtbad Steglitz, "Other Shadows Embrace Mountains" is the second exhibition in the series.

On Sunday, November 3rd at 5pm, the catalog of both exhibitions will be presented.

Participating artists:
Lisa Premke (1981, DE)
Nadine Hattom (1980, IQ/AU)
Abe Rechterschot (1980, NL)
Marco Pando (1973, PE)
Franziskus Nakajima (1979, DE/JP)
Tom Backe Rasmussen (1974, DK)
Nana Kreft (1976, DE)

Import Projects
Keithstrasse 10
10787 Berlin

Ends 08.12.2013

Invisible Measure investigates narratives that are hidden in plain view. The areas of investigation span the last century and attempt to understand how our relationship to transparency has evolved alongside the gradual shift from material to immaterial labor processes. From the use of transparent materials in architecture beginning at the turn of the last century, to the political necessity of transparency today, the project focuses on the use of transparency as a vehicle for ideological social reform. The notion itself seems to imply a certain absolute, a one-to-one assurance of accurate vision. Yet the word defines not accuracy, but appearance. Appearance, however, is not solid, it can be fleeting, momentary, prone to deception and hallucination. If we break the word down: trans apparent: through - it - appearance, what then, is IT?
